Château Purcari’s legacy traces back to 1560, with a landmark moment in 1827 when Tsar Nicholas I of Russia issued a special decree founding Bessarabia’s first specialized wine estate. Its international acclaim began in 1878 at the World Exhibition in Paris, where Purcari’s Negru de Purcari became the first Moldovan wine to win a global award.
