Storage Suggestions
Proper storage ensures that every bottle from The Velvet Bottle is enjoyed at its best. Whether you plan to open your wine soon or cellar it for years, these tips will help preserve its character and quality.
Temperature
Store wine in a cool, consistent environment, ideally between 12–16°C. Avoid places with extreme heat, cold, or frequent fluctuations in temperature.
Light
Keep bottles away from direct sunlight and bright artificial lights, as UV exposure can prematurely age wine and alter its flavor profile.
Position
Lay bottles with cork closures on their side to keep the cork moist and prevent air from seeping in. Screwcap bottles can be stored upright or on their side.
Humidity
A relative humidity of around 60–70% is ideal to keep corks from drying out while preventing mold growth.
Vibration
Minimize movement and vibration, which can disturb sediment and affect the wine’s ability to age gracefully.
Short-Term vs. Long-Term
For wines meant to be enjoyed within a few weeks, a cool cupboard or wine rack in a shaded spot works fine. For long-term storage, consider a dedicated wine fridge or cellar.
Handled with care, each bottle becomes more than wine—it becomes a story worth savoring.
