About
Ella's Journey
After more than two decades in the corporate world, including over a decade at WPP, I left to pursue a long-held passion for wine and storytelling.
The Velvet Bottle brings wines with history, from indigenous grapes and regions the international wine conversation overlooks: the Caucasus, North Africa, the Mediterranean basin, Eastern Europe. Tasting with an open mind and asking questions most importers don't, i built relationships directly with producers in those regions.
My first Georgian partner, Wine Thieves, chose to celebrate women through its goddess imagery, a nod to Barbale, the Georgian goddess of fertility. In an industry still traditionally male-dominated, that connection mattered to me personally.
I created the private dining format after watching good bottles get neglected, chosen last to match a menu that had already been decided. Every Bespoke Experience starts with the wine instead. My background is business management. I'm also a WSET Level 3 candidate. Together they shape how I build each tasting as a ritual, every bottle coded by emotional archetype.
The Velvet Bottle is the exclusive importer of Wine Thieves (Georgia) and Domaine Neferis (Tunisia) in Singapore and offers a wine-led bespoke private dining experience with menus curated by an accomplished Singapore private chef.
