Portugieser has long been part of the drinking culture of southern Hungary — a lighter-bodied red traditionally enjoyed young for its freshness and immediacy. At the small family-run Vojtek estate in Villány, the variety is treated with care and restraint, preserving its easy drinkability while giving it more definition and regional character than is often expected from the grape. Fermented and matured with minimal intervention, this is an honest, unforced expression of Villány’s approachable side.
